In Vulcan right now, just about to set things up for the sessions this afternoon. I will be sharing the stage with Leonard Nimoy, Mr Spock, as one of the official photographers of the Welcome Home event in the town of Vulcan. It is going to be so much fun, nice blue skies are starting to appear. Ah, life is good!

Fashion Has No Borders – Mandie C

April22

Wow, we were the official photographer at the Fashion Has No Borders show. Had a studio all setup and everything. Mark also photographed the fashion show, which was amazing. But one of the gems from the whole show was the two performances by Mandie C. She is being polished for great things and this was, I think, her first – or one of her first – stage shows. Great energy, the audience was mesmerized. We created a music video of her show with her music.

Mandie C is a Calgary Singer, she has her first full CD out already, you can find it available at Edges Hair Salon.

Fashion Has No Borders Show – March 20

March16

Getting all geared for the Fashion Has No Borders event March 20, from 9am to 9pm. We are so excited to be part of this new show to Calgary. We are the Official FHNB Show Photographer and Inner Spirit Photography is a sponsor of the Black Label Zone. The Black Label Zone is where you will find collections from designers at the forefront of fashion. This Zone combines the best of glamour and cool to create the perfect look! Fashion Television icon Jeanne Beker will be flying in to host, with fashion shows running almost back-to-back on the main stage.

I will also be doing fashion shoots in our own huge booth that is 40×20 with a sound system and its own stage, on incredible furniture from Inside Designs, with models in their designer outfits. Collections are coming from Italy and the Caribbean.

Fran is printing up new display images, so it’s going to be a very fresh look. We will have a very large LCD TV screen so you can see what I create. This week we are looking for people to help staff our booth. It’s going to be a lot of fun.

Learn more about the Fashion Has No Borders show at the FHNB website. Oh, another great thing about this show? It’s only $9 to come in.

CALGARY—Three Calgary women have spearheaded a team to mobilize the city’s social-media and business communities to raise funds for the victims of the devastating earthquake in Haiti.
Camilla Di Giuseppe of CTV Calgary, Alex Ruiz of Calix Media and the Calgary Flames and former Calgary sports writer Angela MacIsaac have joined forces to lead a team organizing a fundraiser, YYC4Haiti, at Flames Central on Thursday, January 28, starting at 5:30 p.m.
The event will take place during the Calgary Flames-Phoenix Coyotes Pay Per View game. The Flames, along with the Calgary Stampeders, Calgary Roughnecks and Calgary Hitmen, have become major donors to the event, offering autographed jerseys, tickets and other items to a silent auction and door prizes.
“It is extremely difficult to watch the images and read the details that continue to emerge about the widespread devastation and suffering in Haiti,” said Di Giuseppe. “To put it simply, we want to help. The concept of YYC4Haiti took its first breath over the social-media platform Twitter, which is our primary tool in engaging and mobilizing the Calgary community.
“Now we are looking at the biggest charity ‘Tweetup’ Calgary has ever seen and we only have two weeks to do it!”
Followers of the #yyc hashtag, the search funnel for all things Calgary-related and named  for the city’s airport code, have not hesitated to get involved, many offering items for auction and door prizes or noting their intent to attend and donate to the cause.
“In just the span of one day on Twitter, we had Calgarians come forward to volunteer, to make donations and to say they’ll attend,” Ruiz said. “We’ve even had people from across Canada and the U.S., who have noticed the YYC4Haiti effort, offer to mail us donations for the silent auction!”
“YYC4Haiti is bringing everyone together. The tragic images and devastation in Haiti affect everyone, so we want to do everything possible to help. We know Calgary can come together and make a huge difference and we’re challenging the business community in our city to match the donations we raise.”
All proceeds for the event will be forwarded to the Canadian Red Cross, which is leading Canadian efforts to provide urgently needed support to survivors in Haiti and to address the longer-term needs of affected communities.
“Our hearts go out to those survivors in Haiti,” said MacIsaac. “It isn’t just about buildings and infrastructure. Lives and entire families have been destroyed. There is still a large number of Canadians missing as well and we can’t help but want to do all we can.”

Body Art Makeup

January27

I love collabrations. Just get a bunch of talent and mix it up. This treat, the body art series, came about when I talked to Lucie Brouillard, an international 6 time award winning body painting artist. She is over the top.

I had hired her before for two clients, one wanted to a silver cat in my studio canyon and Stacy needed a shirt and shorts of her boyfriends favourite New Zealans football team.

This time I was planning a full day of body art on clients in August. (we have that booked by the way, if you want art on your body, call us) When we set that up we chatted and discovered she wanted to update her portfolio with her own inspired work.

I thought that would be fun, so I contacted some friends, past clients and models then booked the days. Lucie spent 4 hours on each girl, painting designs that were stunning, as you can see. An ashtray inspired the latest design, although I was sure it was from the old TV show Laugh In, but no Lucie grew up in Quebec and is way to young to catch my reference.

The girls were amazing; each brought a unqiue approach to their personas. Sarah, a trainer at Worlds Gym has a tight powerful body with a no nonsense stance. Yup, she got the sword. Adriana with her delicate features got our mystic creation, all the green and mother earth. Adrienne is our elegant Asian. She is one of the most fluid women I have met.

We have more planned, might even do a calendar or book, so many po

ssiblities. I will be telling stories abou t them in http://innerspiritstories.com/ (give it a few days for them to appear, just not that organized) The really cool ones will appear in my artist gallery at renderosity, 4 have already. You can find instructions to see them at Finding Renderosity Gallery

Then the share idea hit. We both teach our crafts. So I suggested, why don’t we combine my photography class with her body art class. The morning we teach our students technique, with hers painting our models, the afternoon my photographers photo the artwork. Call us if that interests you too.
